# Spectra

> Spectra is a mobile UI inspector for Android and iOS that is 2-5x faster than Appium Inspector. Built with Tauri and Rust, it ships as a ~10MB desktop app for macOS and Windows. It offers real-time device mirroring, smart locator generation with reliability grading, code export for WebdriverIO/Python/Java, and multi-device inspection — with or without an Appium server.

Spectra was built to solve the inspection bottleneck in mobile test automation. According to industry surveys, mobile QA teams spend up to 40% of their automation time on element identification and locator maintenance. Appium Inspector — the most widely used tool for this task — typically takes 5-10 seconds per refresh cycle. Spectra's Turbo Mode reduces this to sub-second by bypassing the Appium server and communicating directly with devices.

The app is 50x smaller than Appium Inspector (~10MB vs ~500MB) and starts in under 1 second. It is currently in public beta with a free tier and a Pro plan at $7/month.
